3-2-1 Teacher Bio {Weekend Warriors}

I am linking up with Weekend Warriors to let you know a little bit about myself. I love getting to know other teachers and thought this would be a fun way to do it.

1. I love being a teacher and I have wanted to be one every since I was a little girl. I even turned my closet into a classroom and taught my sister and gave her homework to do. Even when she was done playing with me I would continue to play teacher by myself and my Barbies. If you peak into my classroom I am always with my students. I am either sitting on the floor with them reading a story, sitting at their tables during math time, and even dancing during Go Noodle with them. I love my job and being able to be a kid at heart 7 hours a day is pretty awesome!!

2.  I absolutely love center time. I love making and creating fun and engaging centers for my students and this year I am even going to add an additional math center time. This is a time where my students get to unwind a little, have some fun, all while still learning. My favorite part about this time is working with individual students and small groups. I feel like this is when I do my best teaching. I get to know my students on a more personal level as well as adjust my instruction to meet their needs. It's also amazing to see my shy ones come out of their shells during small groups.

3. I have taught second grade for 6 years and I am starting my 2nd year in kindergarten. I loved second grade, but kindergarten is a completely different experience. There is nothing like it in any grade, it is a special time and place to be. I feel so fortunate to be the teacher to my 5 year olds... FIVE!! How crazy is that? I always knew that one day I would teach kindergarten because when I was in kindergarten myself, I fell in love with school and the idea of being a teacher.

 1. I love music. I cannot express how much I love it. I started playing piano when I was 11 years old and I was in band throughout high school and was even drum major my junior and senior year. I almost went to school to major is music so I could teach music, but elementary kept calling my name. Even though my sister is now a music teacher ;-) I have to listen to music wherever I am. My Spotify is the most random mix of songs you've ever heard. Some of my favorites are Panic at the Disco, The Beatles, Selena, Celine Dion, Simon and Garfunkel, 80s, Journey... I could go on forever.

  1. It would be amazing to live that close to Disney and go there whenever I felt like going. I would find out what their less busy days/times are and go those days every week! I'm all over that! :)

And I would definitely visit you at your churro stand LOL :-D

    1. I heard the best day to go is on Super Bowl Sunday. I'm not a football person so that works out perfectly!!

  2. Your classroom sounds like such a fun place! It's important to still be a bit kid like. The kids love that! I keep going back and forth on an EC planner, but everyone raves about them. One of these days...;) Disneyland is so much fun! It would be completely awesome to live close enough to go all the time! Thank you so much for linking up with us for Weekend Warriors!

    1. I took a break from the EC planner for a couple years and then bought another one last year. I've gotten into decorating them so it's become a way to scrapbook and journal as well.

  3. Love EC planners too, but last year my ceiling leaked in my classroom and totally ruined my entire plan book! Big bummer. My family is going on our 6th WDW trip this year. Never been to DL though... Maybe one day!

    1. Oh no that's horrible!!! I'm always afraid of accidents happening and everything getting destroyed. Last year our sprinklers went off and three classrooms were destroyed.

  4. I've been debating the whole EC planner thing. Maybe I should start with a life planner. I'm so torn. I'm a CA girl and I totally understand your love for Disneyland, I hope you get to fulfill your dream some day. Thank you so much for linking up with WW.

  5. Isn't Kindergarten the best!?! So sorry to hear about your EC planner! I love mine and also like to decorate it. I live in CA but NorCal so we don't get to Disneyland as often as we would like. How fun it would be to live so close. I hope you get to check that off your bucket list! Thanks for linking up with us today!

    1. Yes, kindergarten is the best. I was always afraid of it, but now I know that it's not a scary place, it's a magical place. :-)

  6. I'm also a teacher because I'm literally still a child. I definitely think it helps in my classroom. I used to not enjoy setting up centers, but that changed once I fell in LOVE with how it works in my classroom. I lived in Orlando, FL and had a Disney WORLD pass for 4 years and literally went every weekend! Never got tired of it! :) I recommend it for everyone!

    1. So jealous, I've never even been to Disney World. As far as centers go, they do take a lot of time to train the kids and prepare if you want to keep them fresh. I definitely think they are worth it though. :-)

  10. Firstly, I LOVE your blog name. Very creative and cute!
Secondly, I am a HUGE kid at heat as well, so one of my favorite things about teaching is just conversing and relating to my students. They just LOVE it when they find out I love animated movies and playing silly little games! ;-)

Magic Answer (Flip Chute)

Don't we all just love Pinterest? I know I do! I have been wanting to implement math centers into my routine this year and I slowly want to teach my students games that can one day be part of their math centers. I am currently working on a math fluency "program" (future post) and I knew that I wanted math facts to be a big part of my math centers. I saw this flip chute on pinterest and I thought it was perfect. I went ahead and made one of my own. It was actually pretty easy. There is a video on Classroom DIY, but I decided to do a more step-by-step video. You can see that video here. I also  made a template in word that you can go ahead and type your questions and answers into. Click the photo to visit my TPT where you can download the template for free.

Show and Tell Wednesday

I'm excited to announce that I am starting a new link up. It is called Show and Tell Wednesday. Every Wednesday I will be hosting a linky party. This is a place where you can share anything you would like. All you have to do is write a blog post about something you would like to share and tell us about it. It can be something from your TPT store, an activity that you did in your class, or anything else school/teaching related. I always love learning new things from fellow teachers and I'm always searching for new ideas. Here are a few rules for the link up. Become a follower of my blog. This is not necessary, but occasionally I will be doing giveaways and in order to be considered for the giveaway, you must be a follower. Also, you don't want to miss anything in the future! :-) Add the Show and Tell button on your blog post that you link up. Visit the person before your link and leave them some thoughtful feedback. Have fun!!!!  Here is my show and tell for the week. School...
