Planbookedu.com Review

I mentioned in an earlier blog post that I have been working a lot this summer in order to get ready for the school year. This school year is going to be a busy one for me. I am starting my 5th year and where normally one would be less busy, I am the opposite. I am starting my masters degree and this year I am also grade level team lead. With the responsibility of being team lead, I need to be organized so I know how to answer questions any other second grade teachers may need. I am also responsible for writing the grade level lesson plans. In the past when I wrote lesson plans I always had them in word documents. Where this was nice and customizable, it wasn't very efficient for me. I would have to save each week as a different file and if I was working on a lesson at home, I would forget that I had it saved on my work computer or vice-versa. I was tired of loosing lesson plans. I have also tried the physical plan book, but I found that these were not customizable at all. I would run out of room to write certain things and when I had a reoccurring event, like lunch or specials, I would have to write it in every day. For the past 4 years, lesson planning for me was a nightmare, that was until someone at work told us about planbookedu.com

Planbookedu is on online lesson plan book.

I have been using this plan book all summer in order to get ready for the school year. I love the features that it has to offer. For only $25 a year, I think it is well worth it.

Features (Pros):
  • You can create multiple plan books under one account.
  • Standards can be entered into your plans easily.
  • You can bump, copy, or move lesson plans.
  • Easy to customize
  • You will never loose your plan book or have it saved on a different computer. It is online and is accessible from any computer with an internet connection.
  • You can also save your completed lesson plan as a PDF. That way you can either save it to your computer or even print it out.
  • Upload files to your plans that way you will never misplace any worksheet that goes with your lesson.
Cons:
  • $25 a year (or free without some of the features)
  • Difficult to print out easily
I have even made a video to walk through how to set up your first plan book.

I hope you found this helpful. I know that this will save me a lot of time this year and in years to come.

  1. Hi,
Just seeing this planbook for the first time. I am in Arizona, too. I will be teaching second grade AND ELD. Is it possible for you to share the ELP standards that you have already typed, if I pay to use the program. That would be so very helpful.

  2. Thank you so much for such a thorough review of this product! I think that I will go ahead and get it! I am also a teacher(science, primary grades) and am in a masters degree program (online). It's been very hard but also very much worth it so far, although I have no life outside of school and "school" : )

  3. Oh I do have a question: do you have a separate planbook then for every class you teach? Is there a way to also make a "master" planbook that combines everything together in one spot also?

  4. No need to answer my question... I looked at their site and I answered my questions myself. But thank you again for a very nice blog on this subject!

Monday Made It Planner Stickers

Today I am linking up for Monday Made It. It is my first time this summer. This summer has flown by and I can't believe that I only have one more week left until meetings and two weeks until I meet my new kindergarten students. Since the school year is sneaking up on me, I am in creative mode and crafting up a storm. As teachers, I feel like we all have something in common... a love for planning. Lesson planning, life planning, to do lists, etc. Over the past few months I have been creating my own planner stickers and I have become a little obsessed. I plan on making more as well as stickers for my teacher planner and lesson planner. If you are interested in some of my stickers, you can find them HERE . After taking a two year break from TpT, I have started updating my old products and creating new ones. One of those includes my Neon Chalkboard Classroom Rules. You can find them HERE for free in my TpT store.

Before Pictures

Many people that walk into my classroom think that it is such a clean and organized room. Clean... yes. Organized... NO WAY!! Here is what everyone sees my classroom as... I love my room and I spent a lot of time rearranging it to make it fit my needs as well as my students' needs. It is a very functional classroom, aside from the organizational piece that is missing. Today I am going to share with you my "secrets". Are you ready for them? I must say that they aren't pretty. Be warned, you are about to see my BEFORE photos.   This area looks fairly organized, except for the fact that I don't use ANY of it. I ocassionally lift up the fabric to get the students' reading books and a binder here and there, but other than that, these shelves are taking up prime real estate.   One of my few cabinets that lock is filled with supplies that don't need to be locked up.  Math centers that have never been used because I still have no clue how I want to organize them. ...

I'm Not a Turkey

With Thanksgiving coming up, I am reminded of all the things that I am thankful for. I am thankful for my wonderful family and friends. I am also thankful for such a sweet bunch of second graders this year. I want to keep this post short and sweet so I will leave you with one of my favorite writing activities, I'm not a turkey. I'm sure there are many variations of this activity, but I just love it so much.  I love the creativity that comes out during this assignment. One of my favorites... I'm not a turkey. A turkey has feathers. I have hands. Can I ask you a question? Do turkeys go to school? No they do not. I am a student. I talk a lot. If you eat me, I can talk in your stomach. If you eat a student, you go to jail. Ohhh so creative!!
